In Soviet times, the country's westernmost team did not achieve much success. The best times of Baltika were the mid-90s. In 1995, Kaliningraders won the first league championship by a margin and for the first time in history entered the elite of national football.
From 1996 to 1998, Baltika played in the top division, taking 7th, 9th and 15th places, respectively. During these three years, in Vladikavkaz the Balts could not score a single goal.
In 2015, Baltika set a first division record, being the first of all teams to gain 1,000 points. Kaliningraders are also the leader of Russian football in terms of the number of matches played in the sub-elite division.
In the current season, the Balts have set themselves ambitious plans to fight for entry into the RPL. At one time, Evgeny Kaleshin's team even took the lead in the tournament. Baltika conceded the first goal into their own net only in the fifth round from Torpedo. However, the beginning of autumn for our today's rival did not go well. In September-October, he won only one match out of seven and dropped to the middle of the table. Baltika arrived in Vladikavkaz after a home defeat from Neftekhimik (0: 1).
The well-known Aslan Dudiev plays in Baltika. On account of this defender more than 70 matches for his native Alania in 2011-2013.
Our team met with Baltika in the winter at the Turkish pre-season training camp in preparation for the resumption of the championship in the PFL South zone. That meeting ended with the victory of Alania - 2: 1.
